Once upon a time there were two guys, Jim and Tom. They were buddies who saw each other every few months and spoke with each other about their dreams for a better life. Both Jim and Tom planned to make their dreams come true through Internet Marketing. Jim was a brilliant guy. He had an advanced degree in business. He was a smart, savvy consumer who was able to spot great marketing trends a mile away. And he was technically proficient as well. He would whip up beautiful, well-optimized websites in a flash. Tom, on the other hand, was a bit of a dullard and rather plodding in his way. He learned, but it took him time and he really had to put his mind to it to grasp the finer nuances of marketing and the technical aspects of the Internet. Both worked hard. Jim would spot a trend, whip up a site, tinker, optimize, rethink, tear down his site, rebuild it, search for more keywords, rethink his optimization strategy, redo his articles and copy and then do it all over again. Tom would throw together his best site for his best marketing campaign idea, step back from it, say "That's good enough," put it out there and move on. Three years later Jim and Tom met up to hang out. Jim rolled up in the same car he had three years ago, wearing the same clothes and muttering to himself about how he really needed to get back to his site to tweak it one more time with some new ideas. Tom rolled up in a beautiful new Porshe (the car both he and Jim had always wanted), wearing a snappy new Hugo Boss suit and thinking to himself how he would head home tonight to throw out a new little site to test an idea he had for a new affiliate program. Jim's jaw dropped when he saw Tom. "Wow," said Jim, "That's a great suit. And what a kick-ass car!" Tom just smiled and said, "Yeah, it's good enough." |
